How to tell handmade from mass-produced when you're shopping
- Ask about the material and thickness. Real wood — like our 1/2-inch plywood — has weight and a finished edge; printed foam and vinyl don't.
- Ask whether you'll see a proof. A real designer will send one. A template shop usually won't.
- Look at the photos inside the design. Custom layouts are arranged around your images; templates repeat the same grid for everyone.
- Check who answers your questions. A small maker will usually reply personally.
